Site 65. The first site on the Rocky Broad River in Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground. On-the-river, so you can never shut off the sound.
I love camping and this is by far one of my favorite places to go. The customer service is phenomenal, the workers are always friendly, I feel safe in their camp grounds AND the views are beautiful. I will continue to camp at this site for years to come!
Love this campground. No frills but just a great place to relax. So close to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure Beach. So much to do and great places to eat and shop. Owners are super nice. Bath house is always clean. Laundry and arcade games on site. Horse shoe pit. Great farm about 10 miles away where you can buy fresh meat, eat lunch, kids can pet animals, swim in the creek and they have dances every Friday night. Just down the road there is parking on the side of the road where you can swim and tube. We loved this area so much that we kept our camper there for several weeks and visited on weekends. We are coming for the Dirty Dancing Festival in August. Highly recommend. Won't be disappointed.
Transient sits ok. They need to lay more gravel down at the sites, it rained and our campsite was muddy. Campground roads need to be re-paved. The permanent sits need better upkeeping, they look pretty bad. Owner came around after 6pm weedeating about 5ft from where we were sitting, threw grass all over our dog and almost hit my wife in the head with a piece of wood that he kicked up.

We got a river front tent site. They are pretty close together but once we got set up the view of the river made up for it. The river was up a bit so we were able to buy tubes from local store ingles and tube down for hours and hours of cheap fun! The bath house could have used a good cleaning but the pressure was good and water was always hot. We did have lots of visitors ducks, ground hogs, and bugs all looking for a meal so keep your site clean. We used the laundry while there. .75 a wash and a dollar dried all the clothes. All in all we would come back. The owners were very nice and accommodating. If you reserve in advance get a cover spot they are super nice.
